This Privacy Policy applies to our website, mobile apps (iOS and Android), venue dashboard (Checkin Places), host dashboard (Circles Backstage), and all other services under the brand Checkin (collectively referred to as our "services"). By using our services, you agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
Checkin operates a two-sided platform connecting people with nearby venues and community-hosted experiences. Our services include:
Checkin App. A mobile app for discovering what is happening nearby in real time, including live venue activity, community events, and social experiences.
Circles. A feature that allows community hosts to create and manage ticketed or free micro-events ("Circles"). Hosts can publish events, sell tickets, manage attendees, and track earnings.
Circles Backstage. A web-based dashboard for premium hosts to manage their Circles, view attendee lists, track earnings and payouts, access hosting insights, and configure their public host profile.
Places. A venue dashboard that allows hospitality businesses to broadcast live activity, promote specials, and connect with nearby consumers in real time.
Live Events. Real-time event discovery that surfaces what is happening right now at venues and Circles near the user's current location.
Information you provide us
Account information. Name, email address, phone number (optional), date of birth, and other information necessary for account creation.
Profile information. Profile picture, bio, preferences, and other optional details you choose to share.
Check-in data. Information about your check-ins, including location, venue, date, and time.
Circles and event data. If you create or attend a Circle or event: event title, description, date, time, location, category, capacity, ticket pricing, and attendance status.
Host information. If you host Circles: your public display name, profile, bio, host tier status, and any information you choose to include on your public host profile. Hosts using Circles Backstage may also provide bank or payment account details to receive earnings via our payment processor, and will have access to attendee data, earnings history, and hosting insights within the dashboard.
Venue information. If you operate a venue using Places: business name, address, operating hours, venue type, and any promotional content you publish through the dashboard.
Payment information. Ticket purchases for Circles are processed through Square. We do not store your full credit card or payment details. We receive and retain transaction records including purchase amount, fees, date, and a reference to the transaction for the purposes of issuing receipts, processing refunds, and calculating host earnings. In-app purchases are processed through Apple and Google payment platforms.
Communications. Messages exchanged through our app's chat and "Hi" features, and any correspondence you send to us directly.
Information we collect automatically
Usage data. Interactions with our services, including pages visited, features used, search queries, events viewed or attended, and timestamps.
Device information. Device type, operating system, hardware and software details, IP address, and device identifiers.
Location data. Precise location data when you enable location services. Location is central to how Checkin works, powering nearby discovery, live event surfacing, and venue proximity features. We also retain your most recent location so we can tell you about live events, Circles, and deals happening near you. You can disable location services at any time through your device settings.
Chat logs. Messages exchanged through our app's chat feature.
Host analytics data. If you are a host or venue operator, we collect data about event performance, attendee engagement, ticket sales, and earnings for display in Circles Backstage or the Places dashboard.
Information from third parties
Social media accounts. Data from linked accounts, such as profile pictures and friend lists, based on your permissions.
Payment processors. Transaction confirmation and status from Square, Apple, and Google related to purchases made through our services.

Our services are intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18. If we learn of such collection, we will delete the data immediately.
